I gave a report last week, I'll repeat it here and I hope it helps...
We fished Kitchie just this past weekend. Fishing was alright, not as good as Cass on the opener. We did a lot of graphing around trying to find fish. Most of the 'eyes we caught were shallow. I mean like under 8 feet. We mixed in some sunnies with those too. Fished mostly with jigs and minnow. A few people out were catching some fish at night trolling around, but daylight seemed to work best for us. Folks at the cabin next door actually found some nice crappies, but I didn't force the issue.
Cass was great during the opener... lots of folks catching their limits in 14 to 18 feet, most pulling cranks in the morning. It has died down a bit now. Not sure what it'll be like when you get there.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
