Did you know after all the hubbub about getting a representative involved I think over 1000 signatures,a meeting set up especially because of this petition,The Native Americans showed up in force,The DNR was there a couple of other state reps.ONLY 2 that signed the petition showed up.The senator or Rep. whoever it was stated, how disappointed he was, and felt let down by the poor showing of the exact people who started the whole petition and meetings To stop netting and got him to organize all this.
So even the party organizers threw a party didnt come and NO ONE ELSE came to represent the stop the netting crowd.
Dont expect any help from a state Rep.or Sen. again they were made fools of!!

Of all he things I ever done I aint never had too much fun

Thank you.
Glad I found this site as I have been/am heavily involved with this netting issue/our DNR/Steve Fellegy/advertising Steve Fellegys C.A.S.S. court case.
I have had extensive involvement/correspondence with our Aitkin DNR & anyone educating themselves on the role our Aitkin DNR are playing, will find exactly what I did, I will say there is ZERO respect for our Aitkin DNR, ZERO!
For anyone who hasn't heard of/about Steve Fellegy, please Google his name or google C.A.S.S. & educate yourself. Feel free to contact Steve, his email/phone number are posted, he welcomes everyone.
Steve is now at the Minnesota court of appeals level regarding his fight to put an end to this. Many people from several fishing web sites, lake owners, resorts, local businesses are helping with Steves attorney fees & it will be all of us helping Steve, who will put an end to this unequal rights/netting.

Someone posted in here about the Senators meeting last year, I was there & sadly have to agree. The meeting was hosted by 2 Aitkin DNR people, Senator Jungbauer, Jim Zorn of GLIFWC, A Tribal Biologist & the Tribal Attorney.
That meeting was nothing more than GLIFWC telling everyone it is what it is & our Aitkin DNR wing nuts went right along with GLIFWC.

Please read up on Steve Fellegy/C.A.S.S- It will be all of us who WILL put an end to it. Thank you.

Here are my thoughts on how to stop all the maddness involved.

#1. Give all the tribal nations in MN the exclusive gaming rights to the entire state of MN. Share the revenue with the bands that still have land rights in MN that are located outside of the state.

#2. In return, they give up all their claims to land rights, and unlimited or limited fish and game rights in the state of MN. They also stop receiving welfare and other special benefits from the state and federal government, and pay taxes on profits and wages like all other US citizens.

#3. If they refuse, open up the entire state to non-indian gaming, and require a certain percentage of the profits to go to fixing the enviromental issues that continue to occur from their current rights.

This way they will have to decide if the money that they are making, is more valuable than the rights that they currently have and more importantly the rights that some of them continue to seek from treaties even older than they are currently following. If they stand to lose nearly all of their revenue from non-indian gaming competition. I'm sure that they would seriously consider excepting the proposal.

I hear your ideas, see issues.

The Federal Government will not entertain a 'you do this or we do that' proposition.

The Federal Governments ruling has Americans divided, giving Indians rights that all other Americans do not have. The only way our Feds will open this up will be to do so as an equal rights case. This equal rights case is exactly what Steve Fellegy is in the process of doing, he now has his case in the Minnesota Court of Appeals in attempts of it leading all the way to the US Supreme Court.

For those that dont know what Steve did- Steve was cited for taking a pre-season Walleye from Mille Lacs, did this with the intentions of being cited/taking it to court, was the 1st phase of a long road.. Now, while Steve was cited for this, Natives took Walleye from Lake Bemidji, a lake they had no right to net, AND, were NOT cited... Steves defense is that a person cannot be cited while another is doing the same & not being cited, based on race.

This will be the way of change, it will be a long, expensive process & we all can help Steve win this fight for equal rights, for all.

Please Google Steves site- C.A.S.S. Today That Begins The End

So I could open a casino, get arrested, and fight it all the way to the supreme court to get non-indian gaming rights?

Because if they are going to net our lakes, I want some of their gaming revenue!
