Where ever you go make sure to hold off until the season opens May 29th.

If you really want to fish for bass right now the only place to go is pool 2 of the Mississippi. You'll have a shot at both large and small mouth.

if you head south towards Burnsville, CRYSTAL LAKE has been pretty good for numbers and size.

Minnetonka is one of the best Largemouth lakes in the country,
almost anywhere you go you will find them, but remember you have to wait till the end of the month! It's worth fishing a few times but it is a really busy lake, early morning casting around the docks, you will find them, almost can't miss.

What's wrong with Forest Lake? I was out the other day crappie fishing and caught more bass than crappie! It's a very good large mouth lake. In fact, the largest bass I've ever seen caught was in that lake. A kid caught it on opening fishing, and nobody had a camera, he cried hard when they put it back, it had to be all of 7+lbs! Beautiful and a shame all at the same time. Big Marine has some good bucket mouths as well, and that's close.

(I couldn't add a link for some reason; so copy & paste I guess.)

I also live in FLake and have good luck with largemouth in both Forest Lake (especially lake 3) and Big Marine. Also, you never know when a respectable northern is going to smack your lure!
