I had some nice luck with the Crappies on Lake Independence over the winter. Haven't been out there since ice out, so couldn't tell ya how the bite is there lately. Maybe someone else knows? You can always call the local bait shops once you get in town. Try Wayzata bait and tackle (952)473-2227, they have always been knowledgeable about the west metro area.
Love Wayzata Bait, was my "home" bait shop when I was a kid, Looks like they have been doing Ok on Waconia, still a couple days of work, but it will be a fishing all weekend type of trip!! Did see about a 50 inch muskie this morning on my folks dock, bet that would be fun on a fly rod!!

People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
