We left friday night on a Whim with 2 boys and a buddy and headed off to my good friend Dirtballs place. We arrived late due to some fog and little boy potty stops. We headed out about 6:30am to Long Point with a tip of some nice fish biting. I decided to head there knowing that we were driving a 2wd KIA sportage and having a good relationship with the resort I could get towed if needed. We were able to make it just about anywhere by using our heads and driving normal. Its amazing how much follow the leader stuff goes on when theres water on the ice. The bite at our first spot was a dud and we relocated a couple differnent times before setteling on 34fow and mud. The saugers took off with a mix of walleyes and that put smiles on the kids faces! There wasnt a particular lure it was more like they were always there and they just chose when they were going to bite. We left for home the same day and was very happy to have sunday to recover from driving. I just might give it another day shot this saturday!
