Got the boat on the mighty Mississippi yesterday and just being on open water was enough for me.... but low and behold we landed some NICE fish including a chunky personal best 21" 4.5# Sauger.
She smacked a Purple Cracker, chart tail, Paddle tail while vertical jigging a current seam!

Hey pier,

Is that water just rippin right now or what? Being spring and all I would think so. Or does the dam keep it normalized?

I'm trying to make a good judgment on the safety of bringing a smaller boat out on the very frigid water.

My buddy has a place on the mississipi just north of 694 and it was moving pretty good today. No luck with fishing either probly too fast for the shorefishing action.
