It seems kind of weird to me, we're in the MIDDLE of July now, and the DNR still ain't asked me for my license smile smiley Last year the same old guy asked 4 times cause he was in his 60's and never remembered me even though he worked with my dad and told me that a couple years ago.......

They're STILL doin a good job anyway.. the more they stop 'poaching'.. the more future there is for kids to grow up and CATCH something rather than just sit in the boat and stare at the water. I do believe like the In-Fisherman magazine article this month, that kids DO need to get shut out now and then but NOT for it to be caused by people stashing and hiding fish above the legal limits or NOT in the slots limits.

I've been stopped twice and never asked to show a license. Once by the DNR and once by the Aitkin County Sheriff. They both seemed very interested in the throw pillow, life preservers and fire extinguisher though.

well, if they stopped me with the 14 ft Lund.. I don't need the 'pillows' or the extinguisher.. but the life jacket... is on from the time I get in the boat till when it gets back to the dock after. smile smiley Never been stopped with towing the boat either.. though the car AND the boat aren't in my name, but in my aunt's ...

I haven't been asked for my license in over 20 years. I have had my trailer checked for weeds, and got the goofy sticker by a DNR wantabe. I am on the water 50 or more times a year. Not only have I not been asked about my license, but no one has looked in my live well. I don't keep any fish but still at least look.
I fish a good number of tournaments, so it not like I am on some small back woods body of water. This week alone I have been on Forest, Clearwater, and Marian.
To be fair our folks at the DNR they are out checking on every thing from Septic systems, RV trails, fire permits, lake weeds and even more. What we need are wild life personal that does only that.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I got checked at a landing too, for weeds and they checked the livewells. They said they periodically do these surveys. They asked what lake I was headed to next, when I would be there. Checked for weeds, etc. I think they are concerned with the foreign weeds (milfoil, etc.) and stuff.

Still was not asked to produce any paperwork though, either for the boat, trailer or fishing license.
