This past weekend was nothing short of amazing for us out on the ice. We left Mora at 2:00am and were in Baudette by 6:00am. We had an amazing breakfast at the Ranch House before heading out to Long Point for some fishing. We started Friday out in 27 FOW and west of the main road. It was impressive to see that you could actually get around off the road and the snow want to bad. Our preferred lures were of course the jigging Rapala glow red and clown, red or glow/orange colored rock n rollers, and a gold northland spinner. Many lures caught a fish or two but the above were are main stay for the weekend. We noticed very little difference between using chubs or shiners. The only spot that I found that had shiners was Log Cabin Bait they went for $5.00 a scoop which will yield about 2 doz. shiners. We had two groups of guys for a total of 7. The first day my house kept 15, Second day 28 and the third day 20 for a walleye/sauger mix. Let me tell you did we eat fish up there! You couldnt force a piece down me right now! Did you ever notice the first thing your wife wants when you get home is a meal of fish? We all took home fish and fun times were had by all! Enjoy the pictures.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
