I wish i fished the Faribault area so I could help you out...

Call around to some local baitshops or else contact the MN DNR...

The Fisheries guys at the DNR are more than willing to respond to an email to and they usually know what lakes have fish.

If you ask the baitshops or DNR guys and explain that you aren't necessarily looking for huge fish but abundance (kids usually like the action) they'll definitely be able to point you in the right direction.

Not much of a hard water fisherman, but talked to a guy yesterday. Him and his buddies are doing good on crappies on French lake on the west end. Didn't ask what he was using.

i have areas where i know i can go on my time, but i have always heard like ROBERTS and FRENCH were decent lakes down that way. just have never fished.

but thanks for the tips.

My B.I.L. fished French on friday 1/15 and they managed a few smaller crappies.

Reports are that the bite is slow as the area is way over fished.

Get away from the crowds, drill some holes and move with the fish.
