With water temps hitting 40 degrees over the last month I found myself looking to deeper water trying to develope a new pattern as the summer pattern has gone by the wayside.

The deeper basins are now holding these fish. Working big blue gills has been a target fish that has always been tough to pattern ,however
I've found a body of water that has been paying off.

The tactics are simple. A slip bobber set to run 2 foot from the bottom in 22-27 feet of water. The baits vary ,but small hair jigs tipped with waxies have proved very deadly.

The other avenue that has worked would be verticle fishing over the side of the boat.
Dropping my bait to the bottom and lifting the bait 2 feet from the bottom. Cheating a bit I'll bring my Marcum flasher and lift fish in the water column just as I would ice fishing.

Typically when the fish stack up below the boat I'll go verticle and when they clear out I'll go to the slip bobber to cover some water away from the boat.

Here's a few pigs from the past few trips.
I should add many 10 to 11 inchers have been boated and mostly released.
