Hi folks, I recently start to bow hunt deer with my brothers and brother-in-law. However, I found sitting on a stand in a tree with little movement is not the type of hunting that I preffer, I like walking around and enjoying nature and excercising. So, while my party is up in the tree waiting for the deer to come by, I would be far away from them and on the ground hunting for small games; squerells, woodcock, and grouse. This is my first season ever as a hunter and I have no luck on bumping into any grouse. so where is the best place to hunt for grouse in Mille Lacs or Milaca area? any particular trial or hiking path that I will see some birds? by the way, I hunt solo with no dog. thanks
welcome to the site mrxiong79, I have hunted grouse around Milaca before but when the season is wet I've found it to be particularly hard. This past weekend I was north of duluth and I saw a lot of birds. Hit one with my car on accident and nearly missed another. They were movin around and I was hearing a lot of drumming.
hunting there twice on weekday following the trials but luck wasnt on this biginer side, however, I manage to bag a squirrel. Eitherway, I feel great with each trip walking through the wood. Great workout and sign seeing.
