I just moved here from TN and need help knowing where to fly fish. I've read the regulations--VERY confusing compared to TN. My plan tomorrow is to just pick a north shore river and hike up. any tips on locations this time of year would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what to expect to catch. From what I read it's alittle early for salmon but they aren't out of the question?
Fly shops will be open tomorrow so i'll probably stop there too.
I don't have a boat, so will just be wading. This is my last week before starting work.
Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboard!
My personal favorite is the Baptism, though it is quite a ways up the shore. You could also give Knife or French a try. Trout is probably what you are going to get into. I would actually hike up away from Superior and find some pools and give it a shot.
As an aside, if you happen to be on the Baptism, right when the sun disappears over the horizon until dark, the browns come in. You'll have about 45 minutes of some of the best trout fishing around.
Thanks, thats the kind of info i'm looking for. I was also told i could wade out into lake superior and fish the mouth of the french or lester at sunrise or sunset and maybe get lucky. although i thought fishing the mouth was against the regs.. guess i'll check again.
