Being we've reached the halfway point of the open water season, just thought it would an interesting topic to bring up/discuss how other people would rate their season in the area(s) they fish so far. You could rate either fantastic/lights out, above average, average, below average, or really stinky poor.
Up in this neck of the woods, the weather has been a constant factor all season, i.e. high winds, much cooler than normal air/water temps, but the fish are still biting fairly well when conditions allow for a trip. I would have to give this year so far an above average for fishing, but a really, really stinky poor for weather.

I'd give my season a below average rating. Mainly because I haven't been able to get out very much.

My spring was crushed by the lake of fish in the Minnehaha creek area, and then I've only been on a boat twice so far this season and the bite was TOUGH both times.

The only satisfaction I've had so far this year was the last time I went out I was the only one with walleye on the stringer. Only 2 walleye both nice eaters but still only two and I had apparently out fished every other boat on the lake and there were a lot of boats.

I guess I'll count that as being the highlight of the season so far as meager as it is.

I have one more chance to go fishing planned right now and that will be on a private farm pond out in eastern Wisconsin. The owner has it stocked with bass and bluegill so we'll see what I can find lurking in there.

Early season was tough but lately its above average. Hopefully it will rain so all the sw metro lakes don't completely dry up. Fishing has been good but getting out on the lake is getting harder and harder on alot of lakes.

I am having a good season. Been getting a little tougher lately. What's been really fun is alot of new stuff worked really well. Finding new lures that work like you thought they would....Priceless!
Still looking for a big Northern. I'd give this season a 6.5

spring was good to me the crappie bass and cats. since then the crappie went deep and spread out and the cats have really stopped biting i think the spawn has something to do with that though overall i would say 5 to 6

I'd rate my early spring Eye/Cat bite below average a lot of that was weather related.

I did have an incredible 2 week stretch in June that has to be rated fantastic/lights out! I landed and put friends on a whole slew of Big Fish with 2 Cats over 40 pounds along with several more in the 25-30 pound range. Walleyes were Fantastic with many fish from 20" to 31"'s during the June stretch.

Haven't had a lot of success lately mostly due to a lack of effort on my part so we'll go with below average for that time frame. The water levels on the rivers are a bit of challenge now also so that's not helping me out!

I am expecting a good Fall Walleye bite and have a few trips planned with friends!

The fishing this year has been a challange.
The key is to forget what you used to do. With the the way the water warmed up which was late the fish had been slow to gravitate to the normal patterns. I't been more of a finese bite with many negative to nuetral situations.
The fall bite is approaching which can be an exciting time on the water....good luck guys.

I would have to rate the season as pretty average for me. Haven't been skunked yet, but on the slow days I am catching the little dinkers. Maybe the fishing has been a bit down, but the lakes I fish have pretty much been the same... just 3 weeks later then usual. I haven't been out the past couple of weeks, though. Looking forward to a good fall...

And yes... I had to go out and get a new prop. The old one was hatched. In fact, I bought two... one pitched at 17 which is normal for my boat, the other pitched at 15 to pull the kids on skis. I love the hub system that taps out to take on multiple props... with the way I hit stuff, it will make it a bit easier on the wallet, if I have to buy new again crazy smiley crazy smiley blush smiley blush smiley ooo smiley ooo smiley
