I had two Shallow Shad Rapalas and on one of them the lip broke off and the other the body fell apart. I sent them back to good ole Normark Corporation asking if they would replace them. Apparently spending $8.00 on sale per lure isn't enough to get them replaced or fixed? They took the time to tell me it was my fault and send them back to me? Letter is below. They could of shoved two slightly scratched bodies in a bag with my old lures and I would of gladly accepted but nope the kicked me right in the BALLS!

My experience with them was the total opposite, but was also very different in nature. My problem was with the Jigging Rap. I caught so many fish one weekend years ago on LOW, that the chrome plating came off. Gave the lure to a buddy who knew a sales rep, and they gave me 10 more for free. But, after reading the letter, one could probably surmise that the chrome plating adhesion was to blame (the color of the lure was chrome/blue). In either case, I do feel your pain, in that the prices of lures is not going down anytime soon, and to lose two lures in those circumstances is almost like throwing a 20-spot down the toidee!!

All though I have never returned a lure, either because I usually loose them if the bite is hot and I forget to inspect & retie my line or they were too cheap to be worth the postage. But I am shocked & disappointed to hear of your experience, I always thought a company like Rapala who got their start in the U.S. here in Mn from "word of mouth" from the trust between fisherman. Maybe they forgot that we like to share our experiences, good & bad. Send them a link to this forum, maybe they would like to reconsider their decision or apologize for sending you the "wrong letter by mistake"

P.S. you can tell them I will "hold off" purchasing one of these lures until this issue gets resolved. Maybe if enough of us feel this way they will address this with haste? It's a drag when a company gets so big it forgets all the little people who got them there.

Unfortunately in todays business world we're hearing a lot of these types of story's.
As far as I and MANY other Rapala snd soon to be FORMER Rapala customers are concerned Rapapal is putting out an extremely inferior "JUNK" product of late! And to have their Customer service level sink to NEAR where Lowrance levels have gone is un-excusable.
What other Brand of Crank-Baits are you guys using or can you recommend?
I'll be posting this Rapala information on some of the other sites in the near future so stay tuned!
Shannon if you get a chance E-Mail me that responce on over!

Salmo Hornets in #4 or #5 really do the trick on Winnie and Vermilion walleyes, and their patterns and paint jobs are very nicely done. Salmo Stings are also another good options when situations call for a stickbait profile/approach and the patterns on these are great as well. Others can weigh in, but these are ALWAYS in the tackle box and ready to go!
