I believe they are.

I fish another rod myself, but I know a lot of bass guys who use St. Croix. The Avid, in particular, is very well liked. Their lifetime warranty is a nice bonus too.

But if you're used to Loomis rods, you might be looking at the Legends then. I don't think you could go wrong with an Avid and the Legends only get better. But, at the same time, I have a buddy who has a bunch of, "entry level" St. Croix and loves them too.

I use St. Croix quite a bit. In fact, my 2 rods of choice are St. Croix. The only problem I have found is that you need to store them indoors. They seem to get a bit brittle over the winter if you keep them in the cold. I have snapped a few early in the spring but since storing them in a warmer climate, I have had no problems.

By the way, I use pretty much ultra-lites for all of my fishing. I love the feel of these rods and have pulled in up to 20 lb northerns with them on 6 lb test.

I had a loomis blank spinning rod, it was a good rod, until it broke lift a small bass from the water. I was then told I would have to pay for a relacement blank. I have bought a St.Croix avid rod, told free replacement. I now have 3 Avid rods, I had a guide client break 1 of the rods. Send to St.Croix got full replacement. I decided Why would I pay more for rod that has the seem free, same weight, same action.
As a fishing guide spending several days on the water. I had found no differnce between the rods. I you had been blind folded handed it rod you would not be able to tell them apart.

For what it's worth Grandt rods are as good or better in my opinion.
www.grandtrods.com
I am a distributor and I will give you one for 25$ over my cost.
My cost is a tad over half price of retail.

I've had many guys use them and they do not want to give them up at the end of the day.
I've also said if you don't fall in love I'll buy it back from you.
I have not bought one back yet in 2 years of making this promise.

go to ckoutdoors to see many testimonials or just ask the guys.

58 to 78 million modulus high strain graphite with titanium oxide guides, double A cork handles and graphite reel seats.
They come with a lifetime no questions asked replacement guarentee.
