A lot of people think this is my site, but it really is a democracy. True, I started it and host it, but the site has been built and changed and formed from user suggestions and posts. If someone comes up with an idea, we usually haggle about it, come up with some decision, vote, then implement it. You should have seen the site a few years ago, it was a mess. But the good folks here came up with some good ideas and as they were suggested, we tried to make the changes. What you see is the end result of what we have. Not really an end result, though... as I am sure it will change even more.

So once again, I am trying to brainstorm and come up with some ideas on making the site a better experience for the old timers as well as any new folks that have joined. Now don't get me wrong, I am not complaining... we seem to be adding a few new users everyday, but I am always trying to figure out ways to improve and thus garner more users.

This site is now and has always been a democracy. Everyone gets to vote and everyone can voice a concern or come up with suggestions. Remember... this site is not here for me, it's here for you. So if you have any questions or suggestions, don't be bashful. We can try to implement just about anything.

What say you all?

p.s. okay, I'm bored today and want to work on something... any takers?

this might not be what you are looking for but I think it would be a good idea to maybe pick a lake in the middle of the state and have a myfishing pals tournment.people who dont have a boat we could come up with a team of 2 or three in a boat as long as we can get quit a few people involved.and for a prize not sure about that one yet what ya think

Yeah... I started going down that route. I might be able to do it. Problem was money... insurance, licensing, fees, prizes, etc. Kind of hard to do. Maybe someone else who has more experience in this kind of thing could chime in and tell me what needs to be done to do something like this.

I was thinking of the website itself...

You know as one of the newest members, I am not sure how much say I have. However as the site grows maybe you could break down water reports by county, thus making it easier to find the lakes and rivers closest to us.

If you do some sort of fishing tournament and need any help I would be more than happy to lend what ever help I can.

How about email notification of post replies? Or maybe a "My Posts" section in the profile? Just something to make tracking your own posts, and replies to it, a little easier.

EDIT: Holy Cow! I just found "Click Here For the most recent posts from FishCat" in my profile! Dang, WD, you are fast! wink smiley

How about this...instead of a MN Gen. Fishing Forum, break the state up into sections, like Northern, Central, Metro, Southern, etc., something along those lines, and then if I, let's say, fish Winnie and want to post a report, it would appear in the most recent posts page (meaning all recent posts from any given forum or thread), but also in the Northern fishing thread, or something like that. That way if Eddie Freddie lives in Deer River, he could look at the Northern thread, and if Susie Doozy lives in Lakeville, she could look at the Metro or Southern thread, you get the picture. You were looking for ideas and just thought I would throw that one out there. Apparently you're not the only bored one out there, no fishing until tomorrow!!!

I'm so bored I came up with another idea. How about species specific forums, i.e. walleye, panfish, cats, etc., where people could talk/ask questions about different methods/techniques in general or on certain bodies of waters and either discuss them or have them answered by others. Just another idea and I hope others will weigh in on these as well with some feedback, positive or negative.

WD is a bored genius!

I like the idea of regional and species specific forums as well. Good thinkin' Slovene.
