For a while there (for the last 3 weeks) I was hammering the Smallies there. Averaging about 3 lbs a piece. It is tough at times hauling them up the sides near the fishing deck and all as I lost some that would make a grown man cry. Well long story short.. the last few days the bite has practically gone out of the place. A friend of mine went yesterday (June 18th) and I went Wed (June 17th) and I got one bass on the 18th that was 18 inches and that was it for the smallies. I caught a couple chips that are otherwise known as Rock Bass.. but nothing of size. Wed I caught about a 10-12 pd carp that almost grabbed my pole and took off with it. But man... I am missing those smallies but hoping now that the smallies have stopped the bite that the Eyes will start their bite nicely!!
I did see a nice Channel Cat at 5 lbs taken there, heard about a bunch of Walleyes taken last year and a few last year and I caught one 3 weeks ago measuring 4 lbs.
So I guess that is it for me... wish I could say more about it.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
