Well, things started out tough on Friday. I planned on some night fishing. Got to the cabin and the boat wouldn't start. Decided not to deal with it until the next day so I fished the dock. Got some nice sunfish and a few crappies from the dock. I also landed a giant bullhead with what appeared to be a lamprey stuck to his back? I've never seen one before so I'm not sure. It was a 14 inch long snake thing with eyes. I just tossed it back and didn't touch it.

The next day I got the boat running but had trouble with the starter solenoid crazy smiley crazy smiley crazy smiley crazy smiley mad smiley

Never got more than 300 feet from the dock because I didn't want to paddle a pontoon back against the wind.

Had a lot of success with a small green tube jig under a float. As night came in the crappies and sunfish got closer and closer to shore until they were about a foot off the shoreline.

Overall- 10 to 12 LM bass, 3 northerns, 30-40 nice sunfish, maybe about 30-40 crappies.. Not too bad for the boat breaking down. But I couldn't get to any of the walleye waters this time and without the boat we called it quits early..

Boat troubles are the WORST!!!
So that's what a minnow or small fish see's before getting struck by a Crappie or Bass, huh? Pretty scary sight. They probably shit the water when they see that. I was hoping you would throw up a picture of the big bullhead, especially because I have never seen a lamprey either! I caught a big bullhead last week at my cabin, I thought it was a dogfish. But she had a full belly of spawn and my circle hook somewhat in her throat, so I threw her back right away and she swam away. They are tough fish, so I'm thinking she made it.

yeah dude.. It was night and I was holding the bullhead (Huge bullhead). All of a sudden I thought I saw an intestine hanging out of it. I looked closer and I had my hand wrapped all the way around a big long nasty half snake half leech parasite lookin thing with little bulgy eyes probably about 14 inches long....I still can't get it out of my mind..

Haha, Lampreys haunting your dreams Logan??

I would be real weirded out by that too! I am always fascinated when I pull up a fish and it has a nasty scar from a previous attack, or if it is a fresh wound knowing that it probably got hit on the retrieval.

oh yeah.. I'll be on a local lake somewhere this weekend probably shore fishing... The weather was spotty. Cold and raining one minute then cold and not raining the next... Part of the reason we never got far from the dock.. It would suck getting stranded far away in the rain...

Now my parents pontoon is sortof out of commission and my boat is still in pieces... crazy smiley

I just broke the sheer pin in my little 9.9 on the 14ft aluminum I own.
But that won't be a problem. Just need to find one to fit a motor from the 50s

I'm not sure if I'll ever be completely ready this summer...

It's all good.. I'm learning a lot fixing up my first boat and every outboard motor repair that I do is just that many fewer things that can catch me by surprise the next time out.

Plus I still got my little aluminum boat with the 9.9

I like using that the most anyhow.. smile smiley

Even though somehow it ended up registered as an 18ft canoe so the DNR gave me a hard time..
