1st Annual Trophy Fish Contest

We don’t discriminate here at MFP so in addition to the Annual Big Walleye Contest we are starting an annual Trophy Fish Contest. The contest is open to all species of fish; anything that has gills is eligible to win.

Here is what you do… Go out and catch yourself a big fish that you think might just be a trophy for its respective species.

Once you catch the fish take a picture of yourself holding the fish. If you are a solo fisherman/woman then do your best, pictures of fish laying on the ground or on the floor of the boat are acceptable but we do prefer to have you included if possible.

After you catch your fish and have taken lots of pictures post your pictures on the MFP forum under the Trophy Fish Contest thread. Include the length and weight if you know it, when you caught it, maybe how you caught. A few details are always nice.
That’s all you need to do. You just might find yourself crowned the 2009 Trophy Fish Champion. Along with winning the title you will also win bragging rights until next year’s contest.

You might be asking yourself how a winner will be selected since crappie, walleye, pike, catfish etc will be competing against each other. Well the answer is simple. We are not looking for the longest fish or the heaviest fish we are looking for the best trophy. For example a 12 inch bluegill is one heck of a fish and is certainly a better trophy then a 20 inch walleye. The final winner might be a 50 inch muskie, or a 20 inch bass, or a 12 inch bluegill, it just depends on what fish is the best trophy for its respective species.

In order to select a winner the moderators will look at all of the pictures submitted and we will select the top 5-10 fish that we believe are trophy fish. We will then present these finalists to all of the users in order for the users to cast their vote for the winning fish.

Rules:

1. The contest begins May 9th at 12:01 am and will end on December 31st at 11:59 pm. All fish must be caught and posted during this time frame. We are all honorable people here so we will take your word that you aren’t posting an old catch.

2. All users, moderators, and website owners are eligible to win

3. If you are unable to post a photo you may email to a moderator or Webdude and we can post it for you.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Good Luck to everyone.

Any fish, anywhere can qualify... the only stipulation is that you are a member of MFP...that's it! We want to make this open for everyone.

This year Jiggin Jims Guide Service is adding taxidermy service. Last season 6 In-fisherman Master angler award fish, were caught while fishing with Jim. This year rather than the clients having to find a taxidermist to do either skin or replica mount. Jim will be offering to do clients trophies for half of the normal cost.

I think the only fish I've caught so far.. is about the size of Pawlenty's fish.

Even a BAD day of fishing is better than a good day of work; paydays excluded!
