I don't know if this has been discussed or not, I am thinking about getting a gps sonar combo and would like some feedback on the different types. I am looking at a garmin 430s right now because I have a nuvi 350 in my car and it works great and is very simple to use, any help would be appreciated.

IMHO they are all pretty easy to operate. A unit like this will require a map chip. Depending on where you’re fishing and what lakes, some chip companies are better then others. Some Combo's will run both chip brands but others will only use one brand. A color display is recommended. And I prefer a 7in screen over a small one. It really depends on what and how you fish. I tend to mark very small/tight structure, so I want pinpoint accuracy and a color screen. But if you’re using it more for navigation then a small grayscale screen might work.

Any new unit is obsolete within days of buying it. Consider used equipment from someone who is upgrading.
