Next week I am going to try and get out to do some shore fishing. I live in White Bear Lake, MN and I think I will be trying out Bald Eagle Lake and White Bear Lake for starters. I was just curious if anyone has been fishing those lakes (or any other lakes nearby) or if anyone had any insight for me.

White bear might be hard to fish from shore with how low the lake is now. The north end of bald eagle can be good this time of year and for crappies that would be my choice of the two.

Howdy MN BassFfisher, Welcome to MFP, I'm not real familiar with that area but I heard from a friend of mine that lives in your neck of the woods that there is a good bite on the st.croix for crappies. He told me where but I don't know if you can fish of shore around there. You can p.m.me and I will try to help you out if I can.

Yeah I was rollerblading around White Bear this week and I was shocked at how low the water is!! I was thinking of maybe throwing on some waiters and trying out down by the Manitou bridge or something. It's super low there, so I would be able to walk out a decent ways. I live like a block away from the south side of Bald Eagle so I will probably test that out!! Thanks. As for the St. Croix, I might have to look into that too!!

With white bear being so low you can walk around alot of shore and it is not trespassing. Average High Water Mark. Stay off docks!!

Not necessarily true about not trespassing. It all depends on if White Bear lake was a meandered lake at the time the Minnesota water laws were written. If it was, then the land "exposed by reliction", that's receding water, becomes the property of the adjacent land owner.

Just checked, White Bear was a meandered lake. Like sauzal said, keep your feet in the water and your good.
