So I tore the carpet out of my boat and cut through the fiberglass.. There wasn't even any wood left. It was rotten to the point that it was half dirt. I ripped it all up and now I'm wondering if anyone can help me choose the right material for new runners, stringers and deck.. I was going to get some 1/2 in. AC for the deck..
Since this isn't a long term boat I'm considering using an outdoor carpet instead of marine carpet. It's not so protected from UV damage but the color is gray so it's not like fading is an issue and the outdoor carpet is alot less money.
One more thing.. If anyone knows where to fin the aluminum extrusion around the bow and hull connection point I have a section that needs to be cut and replaced.. This is an old starcraft trihull glass boat with an open bow.
Is the outdoor carpet a bad idea? I've been getting mixed opinions. But I'm only looking for something to last a few years.
