How is everyone doing on the spring crappie's? I want to the St Croix today and did not find a one. Plan to hit South center Wednesday to see if I can still fish smile smiley

i took out an exceptional crappie tonight a little east of you at the confluence of the eau claire and chippewa rivers in eau claire, wi. fun! what's "the best" way to fish for crappie? honestly, i caught mine by mistake, using a floating yellow lindy and a minnow. good luck! -dave

Yeah.. I'll be out later this afternoon (friday the 17th)..

Any tips for finding the crappies?

I was catching them in shallows on one lake but then hit peltier and couldn't find any?

Are they moving into shallower bays? sitting in the deeper holes still?
What do you think?

Hit a few shore spots around the chisago lakes area the rest of this week. found a few in shallow on South Center. I was using tube jig's under a small float.

for me its been slow only 2 crappies so far. wish it was walleye season already, i landed an 8lb 8oz while bottom fishing for bowfin, a 9lb 3oz while float fishing for crappies, and a 7lb 8oz while stalking a creek for bowfin, was jigging in front of a bowfin and all of a sudden the walleye came out of nowhere and hit it. also caught a few smaller ones, most were because i wasnt watching my bait and they took it while i was texting the girl friend. lol.

logan, crappies will probably still be staging outside spawning areas. a few are moving into the spawning areas around here. but the fishing is EXTREMELY SLOW
