Is anyone going for the new conservation license this year? How about the walleye stamp?
It cost less than a normal license. I'm not sure yet how much less?
Available only to residents
Daily and possession limits are half of what can be taken with a regular license.
People bowfishing, spearing or using other harvest methods can use the conservation license and also have the 1/2 limit.
Sturgeon tags can't be used with a conservation license

I didn't get the Conservation License. I don't keep a lot of fish but when I do I may want to keep the full limit. But it is nice option for those who don't want to keep Fish and you save a few bucks.
Now for the Walleye stamp...yes and just about everything under the son for this guy...
$94.50 worth... Beat this if you can!

I'll buy the regular license even though I very seldom catch more than half a limit of anything anyway.

John & I will get the combination (H & W) conservation license. We don't keep more than half our limit anyway, we carry far too much food on our canoe trips to not eat that for most of the time. :-)

Geez pier. you're set for a whole year of fun.
I figured lots of the bass guys would get the conservation license.
I would go for the conservation license too but I usually get the combination small game and fishing license anyway.
I'll also be getting a pheasant stamp, walleye stamp and trout stamp.
If I had any idea how to catch a sturgeon I would probably get a tag. I'm always jealous of the sturgeon fishers because it looks really fun but I have no clue how to go about getting them. And I doubt that I have the equipment for a big one.
As for a migratory waterfowl license. I'm waiting til my pup can steady better before bringing her out to shoot any birds.. However she has been doing great on pheasants and I bring her grouse hunting too.
Turkey? I wouldn't even know where to start. My grandpa hunts em every year but I think he goes to Nebraska or something.
You should also all know that you need a small game license to harvest frogs

You don't need a Sturgeon Tag to fish for Sturgeon. You only need the Tag if you plan on harvesting one. And in that case it has to be over 60"s and you can only have one Per year. I don't plan on taking a Sturgeon but If I catch a huge one and can't revive the Fish I will then use my tag and donate it to someone who actually wants to eat a 50 year old bottom feeding fish...I'm not that guy...
The St. Croix River has a fall Sturgeon season. Other then that you have to hit the Rainey River or Lake of the Woods to target them.

I'm opposed to this license, IMHO it doesn't or won't lead to less harvest (not sure conservation really applies). The DNR will lose at least 1,500,000 est. in revenue. Most anglers who already practice C&R aren't doing it to save $$$ on a license. Mostly I see this pushing costs up for all anglers, sooner or later license fees will have to be raised to meet the shortfall.
But let's look at another issue, what about the C&R hook mentality? Am I really practicing conservation by going out and hooking 20-30 fish a trip? Likely 2-3% will have delayed mortality from this. An interesting read is the smallmouth article in the last InFisherman.

Hi Pierbridge.I would like to correct your comment about harvesting one sturgeon over 60 inches. the rule book sayes one between 45-50 or over 75.I have tried fixing them a number of ways but smokeing is the best.

Good Catch Ron! I was thinking of the St. Croix River where I do most of my Sturgeon fishing. Sturgeon Season on the Croix has a one Fish over 60" limit and you need the tag!
You are correct about the regulations on the Rainey River and LOTW... Thanks for the correction!
Like I said anything including old shoes can taste good when smoked....
