I have noticed an increase in users being online as well.

Partly it is due to the open water itch, people are starting to come out of hibernation with thoughts of casting a line.

It is also probably related to the new blogs. When Webdude adds a new feature like the blogs he usually sends out an email to all past users to let them know. After that email you usually see an increase in users for awhile as people come back to check it out.

It will probably tamper back off again as time goes on.

However, I have also noticed an increase in users visiting and then actually posting which is the true measure of the site in my opinion. It seems like we have picked up several new quality users with good info to share. THis is what we are looking for. I prefer quality over quantity.

We might not grow rapidly but our growth is consistent and usually based more on quality. I really think the new blogs can help us alot however it is still up to the individual users to make this site great.

Webdude does an amazing job giving us the space and the tools we need to make this site great but its up to the users to use these tools and take the site to the next level.

You know what, this place is ready to explode. The freedom of speech and laid back attitude on this site is second to none. There is no other web site geared specifically towards fishing that doesn't have an agenda. All the other sites want instant money and recognition. All of those things clash with what the WebDude is trying to do here. That is no outside influence..The minute the dude needs some money I will step up to the plate. (You've got my e-mail)
It's really hard to know when you can talk and what you can talk about when you have to worry about every post you make.I'm still a little gunshy from fm which I got booted off. MFP's WILL RULE!

Well... the users have been fast and furious lately. There are several reasons for this. #1 is the blogs. #2 is the upcoming season. #3 is the bulk email I sent out to all of the users.

(interesting thread here...)

http://myfishingpals.com/Minnesota-Fishing-Forum.taf?_function=detail&ForumMasterThreads_uid1=3775&start=1&ForumNumber=9

We are back to adding about 3 to 5 new users a day. The fact that people started posting more for the first time really has me baffled, though. I believe it's because the quality of the posts has gone up. We have a bunch of new users from Anglers for Habitat that have joined and it has given the site more of a political vent... which is a good thing because these users are close to the legislators and it seems we have garnered their ear. Next is the fact that blogging seems to be so "IN" right now that the last bulk email really got a lot of people coming back to see what's up. That and the fact that no other fishing site even comes close to letting their users create their own webpages or websites. Last, I think that we are starting to get some very good reports from resorts and guides and that really helps. I have always believed that if you can get the pros and owners to post (the people in the know), the rest will follow. That is one of the biggest motivators in keeping anything that has to do with fishing free. People are starting to realize that we are getting some good quality users, there are good reports and healthy debates going on and people in the business can post their stuff for free. It's all a winning combination that I believe (and I have believed this for years) that will ultimately make this the "place to go" for anything that has to do with fishing in the great state of Minnesota!

Wow... I almost got a tear in my eye their, folks.

smile smiley

On a more serious note... I appreciate all of the new involvement... thanks to everyone.

Actually one of the things that I appreciate the most about this site is that the debates are usually very civil. The same can not be said for some of the other sites.

These civil debates I feel are much more productive.

Take the legislation threads that are active right now. Even if some of us don't agree with the legislation being proposed we can voice our opinins and perhaps even give feedback that may make for better authored bills in the future.

15 seems to be about the mid day average. Drops down a little in the evenings though. I assume alot of guys are avoiding work at the office. I know I am.
