When you click on "Post Reply" or "New Topic" in the forums, you are presented with a
window that enables you to post information into our forums. The same type of window is also used for
adding or editing your blog.
The first thing to do is to add some text into the window.
In this case, we just typed in "Here is some text we will use as a test." The window now looks
Changing Text Style and Colors
You can change the text style and/or color of any part of the text. In order to do this, simply highlight
the text you wish to change and then click on the appropriate area at the top of the window. We will call this the pallete.
In this case we are highlighting
the word "Here."
Now, when you click on the "B" in the pallete, it automatically adds the code made to bold that word.
You can also click on "I" or U to change the text to italic or underlined. The
same holds true for changing the color of the font, simply click on the desired color. In this case, we have bolded the
text and below is what is displayed...
Adding a Link
Next, we will show you how to create a link. We are going to type "This is a link" and highlight that text.
When you click on "Add Link" in the pallete, you are presented with a pop-up window that will ask for the
link. Please make sure you include "http://" at the beginning of the link or else the
link will not work. Click "OK" after you are done filling in the link information...
This automatically adds the code needed for the link in the window. The code should look something like this...
Adding an Image
Next, we will show you how to add an image. In order to add an image to your post, the image must be available
on the Web. We do not allow uploading images from your computer. There are free services that will let you store
and make available images online. PhotoBucket is popular with many of our users. To add an image, simply click in the area
you would like to add the image, this will put your cursor in that spot, then click on "Add Image" in the pallete. You
are now presented with a pop-up window that will ask for the location of the image. Please make sure you include
"http://" at the beginning of the image link or else the image will not display. Click "OK" after you are done
filling in the image link information...
This automatically adds the code needed to display the image in your post. The code should look something like this...
When you are surfing and you find an image you would like to post, you can right click the image(in Explorer) and
information about the image is available to you, including the link. You can copy the "Address" of the image and use that
information to display that image in your post...
You also have "Smilies" available that you can add to your post, simply click on any of them (they are located to the left
of the window), and they will be included wherever your cursor happens to be. In this case, we have added 3 smilies to
the post. Your window should now look like this...
When you are done with all of the information you would like to include in your post, click on "Submit Message" and the
information will then be displayed. Don't worry if you got something wrong, you can always go back and "Edit" your
post until you got it exactly the way you want it. In this case, the post we created looks like this...
There is a lot more you can do, if you know basic HTML. The pallete is available to make it easier for users who do not
know how to write code. If you ever need any help displaying an image or adding a link to a post, our Moderators will be glad to help you.
