Are we going to do the big Walleye bragging rights again this year?

I think it's a good idea. Hopefully we will have a better response then last year. We will need to ask the rest of the users what they think and come up with some simple rules, start and ending date, etc. The winner will be able to display the smile smiley coveted smile smiley art in their signature file...

...only I'll change it to 2009. I wish I could offer something else. Maybe a day fishing in my boat, no need to bring gear and stuff, I could handle it all. Or maybe we could come up with something else.

It's a bummer sometimes running a non-profit site... no profits crazy smiley

Is the contest going to go for just Saturday? or the whole weekend? It's only a 45 min drive from Sandstone to BSL. But I probably wouldn't make it onto the water till Sunday.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

I think last year we had the contest open all weekend or possibly even for the first week of the season.

I'll go back to see if I can dig up the rules from last year.

Now I just have to make sure I can still get to my shore fishing spot since I might not be able to make it out on a boat for opener.

Here are the rules we used last year. I like the idea of giving a full week that way it gives people a little more time to get out and then get back and post their pictures.

------
You have from Midnight of the opener until midnight the following Friday to catch the biggest walleye you can.

A picture with fish posed next to a measuring tape must be posted for proof of the length. Length is the measure not weight.

If two fish tie for the top prize the fish that appears to be fatter will win (as voted on by the site users).

The winner will get the honor of having 2009 MFP Big Walleye Champion added to their signature. And maybe another special prize if someone has a suggestion.

Thanks nofish for clearing that up, a week is great and it should give more of us a chance to join in on the fun. wink smiley oh, one more question, does the photo need to include the fisherman too, or should we send 2 pics, one of the fisherman holding the fish and another of the fish w/ the ruler? thx again.

Here are my pictures from last year to give you an idea.

And the length

Having a picture with yourself and the fish certainly would be nice but it's not mandatory.

I have no idea where my pic from last year is, but I know I was one of the winners. I like my fish was smaller but it was in ealier, I'm not sure on that, but it was something like that! smile smiley
