I saw this story on another forum where they were talking about walleye fishing last week in Lake Erie, which has no closed season in Michigan, Ohio or Canada. It is a good reminder to check ALL of your equipment that has not been used in several months.
"Highlight of the day......we watched other boats around us constantly to see if any fish were being hooked/landed. one boat had a nice fish on, and the guy was doing a good job fighting the fish. the net entered the water perfectly and the fish was scooped out of the water. when the net man lifted the net to admire his buddy's catch.......the fish came unhooked and slipped right out of the bottom of the net......all 4 guys looked at the net....turned and looked at each other......then looked at the net again like...."that did NOT just happen!!!" 3 guys continued to fish and the boat captain began the net repair."

If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
