Has anyone here tried bobbing for Lake Trout in Lake Superior? Tried it for the first time last weekend. Great time. Wondering what others thought of it.
Hmmm, not sure I've ever set a bobber for deeper then 10-20 feet. I guess in theory a bobber would work if set at 75-100 feet but it just seems like there would be better options such as jigging.
Actually its called bobbing because there isn't usually much ice out by the apostle islands and you are "bobbing" on a thin sheet of ice over 250+ feet of water. Luckily the cold winter has blessed us with 18 inches through most of the islands this year. Scary stuff!
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home. ~ Roderick Haig-Brown, Fisherman's Spring, 1951
