Hi all, Just wondering what people in here would suggest for good bass lakes near St. Paul. I've heard Johanna and Josephine might be good; and Gervaise/Kohlman.

I know people don't always want to share their favorite spots, but I'm fairly new to the area. So here is one of mine - Pickerel Lake. I think that's what it's called. It's right between St. Paul and Lillydale, and nice and quiet. Caught 4 last weekend. One was pretty hefty and measured almost 20". But I'm looking for some variety.

Anyone want to share? Thanks

Big Marine has some good bass in it. Also, some of the lakes up by Ham Lake.

If you have a boat, there are a lot of lakes with nice bass. Crystal Lake in Burnsville are very good. Marion and Orchard in Lakeville are first class.
I also like Forest lake, Bald Eagle, White Bear, and Turtle Lake are outstanding.
I fished the Frankies tournaments last year and all the Chisago lakes are great for Bass.
You should get Sybil Smith's book The Twin Cities Fishing Guide. It has maps of the lakes, plus how to get there and bait shops near by, and shore fishing locations. It is well worth the money.

Thanks for the tips. I picked up the book too. It is very good! Thanks.
I do have a boat, but it's a small, one man pontoon. So I'm looking for the smaller area lakes. One that might be good for a canoe or something. I was hoping to throw the boat on top of the car and hit some of the smaller city lakes. I tried Johanna this weekend and that wasn't bad at all. Looked at Josephine too, but there were a lot of boaters pulling tubes and skiers. Very busy.
