Can anybody recomend a resource for learning how to fish in deep clear lakes. MN has a fair amount of lakes with 20 foot plus disk ratings, and I just can't figure them out. The beauty of these lakes becomes tiresome when you figure out you are overmatched and will not catch, let alone see a single solitary fish.
If you insist fishing these waters during the day in the summer the fish are going to be on the deep side of the weeds, Big Trout lake on the Whitefish Chain is a great Example of these lakes, at lot of times you would have to fish 40ft. on a sunny day. but in the dark is your best bet for the shallow side of the weeds, keep it simple, light line & small hooks.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
