Can anybody recomend a resource for learning how to fish in deep clear lakes. MN has a fair amount of lakes with 20 foot plus disk ratings, and I just can't figure them out. The beauty of these lakes becomes tiresome when you figure out you are overmatched and will not catch, let alone see a single solitary fish.

LOW light hours!! Early in the day, or late in the day. Also very cloudy days have worked for me. Dont use glow jigs, stay with white and black, yellow, and blue has worked good for me also. Good Luck cool smiley

If you insist fishing these waters during the day in the summer
the fish are going to be on the deep side of the weeds, Big Trout
lake on the Whitefish Chain is a great Example of these lakes,
at lot of times you would have to fish 40ft. on a sunny day.
but in the dark is your best bet for the shallow side of the weeds,
keep it simple, light line & small hooks.

I would imagine those same rules of thumb would apply for Pike as well?

look for pockets in the cover, Northerns feed all day!
it's really cool watching them in the clear water as
they attack. they'll still be fairly deep.
