Fishing Report A nice amount of keeper walleyes (1-2lb), many slot fish (19.5 - 28) and two nice 29 ¼, 10 lb twin walleyes are the highlights of this week! Of course some houses better than others, but all in all a good week of fishing.
The best fishing has been in 25-30 of water just a 25 minute bombardier ride from the lodge. The walleyes are really taking a shine to white, yellow or gold jigs tipped with a minnow or any brightly colored chubby darter. The chubby darter really has been a hot lure us this winter. The guides continue to report that for anglers to have the best fishing experience, jigging is a key component. The action at the minnow and bright colors really seem to get the walleyes appetites kicked into high gear.
We have had reports of people catching fish suspended 2-4 feet off the bottom in the past few weeks. Based on that, it seems logical to set your line at that depth however, the guides suggest you set your line within 2-4 inches off the bottom, watch your vexilar and then jig up, you can always jig up, but you cant jig down. They said most of the fish are closer to the bottom so if you want to experience an overall good day of fishing your best chances are to do this technique. Dont have a vexilar? We have got you covered. Rentals are available at the front desk.
Anglers continue to catch a nice mix of walleyes & saugers with the walleyes still more prominent. A few eelpout and nice jumbo perch also continue to top off the pale at the end of the day.
Looking for some hard water trolling? We got a trip for you! Try our Guided Snobear trips! A great way to troll the lake in the winter. $500 for a day includes the space for up to 3 people to fish & ride in this unique vehicle and all in one fish house. Ice Condition Report We are currently maintaining 30 inches of ice on the lake and the ice auger extensions will soon be used. A great base of ice for this time of year!
Snow & Trail Report The current snow depth continues to stay at 24 inches right now. Plenty of snow for a bombardier and snowmobile ride.
