Decided to post this as a new topic. What the heck, you all know the lakes I fish. May as well make it an official report so to speak.
Good weekend finally on the home lake. Saturday weather sucked and spent most of the time in the rain gear... Oh well.
The bite was really lite. In fact, if you weren't paying attention, you would lose the fish. Did pretty good though. Me and the son and bro' caught about twenty 'eyes and kept 6 for dinner. Didn't want to be pigs about it. Sunday was a gas. We went out and released a bunch. A lot of little cigars, but a few we would have kept if we wanted. The son caught a 30" northern on his ultra-lite with 6 lb test. That was fun! I caught one too that was 28" - (he does outfish me sometimes).
All in all, a good weekend, little wet on Saturday, bit not bad. At least it wasn't cold.
We used primarily leeches. Couldn't get a bite on fatheads. Used either jigheads or plain hook and bounced the bottom. Almost all fish were caught in 10 to 14 feet. A few nice ones were caught in the river, most though, were out on the rockpiles. Summer is definitley here.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
