Hello Everyone,

I want to take my 6 year old daughter fishing tomorrow on Owasso or Turtle since they are fairly close to the house. I've heard people say the best bet for kids to catch fish on Owasso is straight out from the access. Not too sure about Turtle
I'm not concerned about fish size, just want to keep the kid from getting bored. Does anyone here have any advice on what works better between minnows or wax worms ? or maybe try them both huh ?

Thanks for any replies.

Well I decided to hit Centerville instead and try our luck. We ended up catching a few crappies and sunnies but it was slow overall. There were alot of people out there.

centerville has been doing really good the last couple weeks, i have limited out of sunnies and getting close to my limit with crappies 4 times in the last 2 weeks. straight out from the landing on the peltier side right in the middle of the first large group of ice houses. the bite has been very soft so use 2 lbs test line and as flimsy of a rod you can by and jig them. there just not pulling bobbers under like they do in the summer there to weak this time of year. jig jig jig is the ticket, mid day for sunnnies and crappies have been moving in near sunset for me. they have been on the bottom and they have been suspended 6 feet off the bottom so a camera or vexilar to locate them is key. but they are there friend. happy fishing

Thanks for the tips muskiemann. I do have a Vex so I think I'll try to give it another shot this weekend. I'll be with my daughter, so it will depend on the weather.

dum bass, if your looking to just keep the kids busy try Island Lake tons of sunny action, but not much size.

Thanks David,

We fished there in the summer off the fishing pier, but never in the winter. I have heard there is an aerator (or spring maybe?) that causes thinner ice in an area near the hwy bridge. I'll check the area out and give it a shot.

Yesterday we hit the crappies pretty hard in a Wilcraft with Euro larva and minnow heads. 25 feet of water. 2-5 feet of the bottom.
