Lake of the Woods South Shore Fishing, Snow & Ice Report|
Happy New Years Eve everyone! This past week started out with a bit of a slow down, but has ended with a lot of action and excitement! Yes, the walleye action once again has heated back up! Here is what some of our guests have been saying the past few days:
Lots of action!, No time for lunch in our fish house!, The fish are hungry, we caught good 1-2lb eater fish all day long!, I have been here twice in the past 2 weeks and have never had so much fun fishing!, Our house caught a 27, 29 & 30 all in a matter of 2 hours! This was a trip I will remember for the rest of my life! A great day! Good fishing, and time with just me and my family, no distractions (other than the fish of course), that is what life is all about!
The best fishing this week has been found in 20-24 of water just outside of Pine Island a short 20 minute ride from the lodge. The bait and tackle choices have been scattered across the board this week, chubs, shiners, artificial, ½ oz ¾ oz jigs, and spoons. There hasnt been one thing that anglers have used more than others; the walleyes simply seem to be active & hungry.
So what are you waiting for? Get your friends & family together and take a vacation you will never forget at the Walleye Capital of the World! We have day fish house, sleeper fish houses and guided Snobear trips as well for those that want a more personalized guided ice fishing experience. The heats on and the holes are drilled! Snow & Trail Report
The snow just keeps a coming! We currently have a good 14 snow base and it looks like we may be getting more this week.
The Lake trail from the south end of Lake of the Woods, Wheelers Point to the northern part of the lake on Oak Island was just freshly groomed yesterday so it is in optimal condition right now.
The Lake trail from the south end of Lake of the Woods, Wheelers Point to Warroad has just recently been staked and grooming will start the end of this week.
In regard to the land trails around the Baudette area, the trails within 15 miles of the lake area have been groomed and are in good condition; however the trails to the south are in fair condition at this time.
It is currently -23 right now as I write this! The ice is in great condition this year! We have 22-26 in most places an above average depth for this time of year.
