hey guys, just wondering if i could pump anybody for information in regards to lakes near and/or north of duluth.

every september i go camping for a week up near tofte/schroder, north of duluth. unfortunately i haven't had much luck on superior, nor any of the rivers (i.e. temperance river)... just wondering if anybody knows of some decent lakes up near there.

thanks.

Hey mike jupiter,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals!

There are some guides on this forum that fish up on Superior. They post once in a while. Hopefully one of them will give you a heads up here.

Been a while since I fished Superior. I used to fish for salmon quite a bit, especially when they're running. Mouth of the French, Lester rivers are pretty good that time of year. Steelhead can be fun too.

As for the lakes north of Duluth, the only fishing I do is for trout. Up in the Finland area there are some nice, relatively low pressure lakes that have some nice fish in them. Up on the Baptism can be fun.

That's all I can help you with...sorry.

You should try going up to Cresent Lake. I haven't been up probably five years, but that was always a good walleye lake and there are lots of campgrounds if you want to make a weekend of it. It's probably a good two hours of driving but it's pretty decent. Otherwise if you want to stay closer to Dultuh, you should try Fish Lake.

I've only lived in Mpls now for two years and I am finally getting my boat from my dad (hard to find a spot to keep it when you're apartment living). Any suggestions for the Metro area? I'm right in the middle of Minneapolis so any direction out is fine with me.
