I have never fished around there, but do hunt birds by Duxbury with my Dad & nephew. I have always wanted to try Grindstone lake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My father-inlaw lives on Sturgeon lake which I have fished it
a few times
with success. and I have also got some Walleyes at the damm at
the willow river, other then that I've heard great things about
the snake river, but have never fished it.

Grindstone is a good lake. Look it up on the dnr lake finder. I have speared for northern in here for a lot of years. Biggest I've got is 15lb. It seems like there is a thirty pounder taken every year or so. There are also alot of trout (brown, rainbow, and lake Trout). When spearing it, is very common to see all of these fish come through. I've even had the lake trout hammer the live sucker decoy. From boat launch you walk out or drive when ice is good. Summer fishing is a hole different deal. Crappies are very hard to find, can be good if you do. We found a dead 16" crappie floating about 7 years ago. Hope you try it some time, good luck!

I have never fished the snake, but stergeon lake is a pretty good lake but has a few restriction to go along with it. Very clean lake with lots of rocks. I have seen a few 20lb northies come out of Island lake just north of there.

Northshorechief, If your interested in rivers around there I have had really good days on the kettle river for smallies and walleye. You can get on at Banning Juction and go north or south. I have had better luck going south. Some of the guys I know go north for stergeon.

I'm hoping that I start to get more time during the summer,
so I can start fishing in that area more often, most of the time
I just fish the little lake of the back side of there property
for largemouth Bass and Sunfish, since we don't really have either
of them up the shore here, and there fun to catch on a fly rod,
I do want to do some Sturgeon fishing on the Kettle, It is the
holder of the state record I believe, I have also heard of large one's coming out of Grindstone Lake. Nice area to live in there
but a little to close to the city for me!!

one of the Dunkley's hold the record. I went to high school with one of them. they are native american. They caught that north of Hinckley on the Kettle (state Hwy 48).

Thanks for the info sauzal1021, I have read the Lake Finder for that lake, its the Trout that I'm after, and it appears to be heavily stocked with them. I do Love a big ol' Pike anytime so thats always good to hear where they are.
