I think it is safe to say; we now have ice. We did get some wind on Wednesday, but it was not bad. We do have some ice that piled out a little further, but it should be ok, to get a plow through. It is not as smooth as I would like to see it, but it is better than I thought it might be, after losing the ice on Tuesday and having over 3 miles of open water. I was out checking the ice on Friday and we have 3 inches of new ice as we sit now. By next weekend, we will be out with sleds and 4 wheelers, for sure.
The temps are perfect for putting down ice. With the wind driving the cold down, it should make up to a half of an inch or better per 24 hours. That should put us at 7 to 8 inches at least for next weekend. So, I would plan on getting in some fishing next weekend. I will be keeping you posted as we get closer to kicking off the hard water season next week. Trucks and houses are ready and I did finish up with the foam houses yesterday. They are ready to go, and so am I.
