12-1-08 People are walking out from the West Access to the Cigar Island area to pick up on the early ice crappies. I can see fish houses from my house down by Wilson, and they have not fallen in in two days, which is a good sign! Reports are the ice is at about 3". Northern are plentiful in the north bay where the ice is about 5".
7 in the north park, 5 in the bays, 3 on the main lake. Nice walleye at dusk, sunnies in shallow on larva, both waxies and euro..crappies hot up by Cigar with lots of people dragging out houses on sleds..and falling down, cause it is very slippery! Be careful out there! East lake has hot walleye action over by the public access where the hump comes up, dusk and dawn bite..
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
