People are out on the white bear bay side, i haven't been out there but i have seen them. Haven't seen anybody fishing on mahotomedi side yet, mostly just shallow water stuff in the bay around Tallys. People are ice skating close to shore. There is open water still in the main lake and the shift in wind saturday night broke open the ice a bit, which was counterproductive to having the main lake freeze over. Stick close to shore or in the shallow bays and you'll be alright.
There was roughly 10 to 15 portable house out on WBL today. The ice is thick enough to go fish now. It should be about 10 inches all around. We saw a lot of perch and sunnys through the camera and caught 2 northerns but were released. 1 guy was driving the ATVs on the lake...no cars yet though???
I was wondering if anyone out there has been fishing white bear? I normaly go and fish northers off bellair beach. But I want to try for some walleys out there on white bear, But not sure where to go on the lake or for that matter what to use, I dont normaly go for them But really want to try this year. If there is anyone out there that can help I would love the help!

People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
