I broke my sunfish rod last year and am looking for a new one with no luck so far. I like to fish with out a float or spring so a rod with a little backbone and very soft tip is what I am looking for. Any one have and input on rods you have used? Thnaks

The berkeley lightning rod has worked really good for me. I have used it for trout, panfish, bass, walleye and even northerns. and it was only $20! smile smiley

Treat yourself to a Thorne Bros custom sun fish rod. You won't be sorry. They are located in Fridley on University Ave. For most fishing you won't have to mess around with springs or bobbers.

Thanks Have looked at a few lightning rods but not really what I am looking for. The Thorn rod sounds more what I am looking for do not want to use a float or spring just the rod tip and line. What do they run $? ballpark after all it is the season of giving smile smiley

I also know of a guy who has some what I thought were Fenwick, but I can't find ice rods on Fenwick's website... now I'm not sure what they were, but they were like $150/each and came with an integrated spring.

Eh, guess that's not what you were looking for, never mind. wink smiley

Austin Custom rods are about the sweetest rods I've ever used.

I'm using a Custom Elite 24" with a fast tip,he also makes them in a full flex. You can talk directly to him and explain exactly what you want in a rod and then he will build it for you.
