Calling all Iron Men & Women! The temperatures are really starting to drop, but the fishing remains strong as this is prime time for the annual emerald shiner run. Anglers have reported nice walleyes being caught in 15-25 in the Four Mile Bay and Rainy River, within 2-4 miles of the Sportsman's Lodge. A ½ oz orange or pink jig tipped with a shiner minnow has been the choice of these hungry walleyes. We have also had reports of some nice size northern pike being caught up river by Baudette in the 35-45 range.
The bays are just starting to get a thin layer of ice on and we have just a light blanket of snow covering the ground. It wont be more than a few weeks and the ice will really start to form as we creep up on December. We are looking forward to a good year of ice fishing, the DNR reports the lake is very healthy and we can tell, because the past years fishing reports have proved it. 2008 has surprised even us! We continue to have great lodging specials only $35 per person per night thru November and good deals on winter ice fishing packages as well, so dont delay give us a call today and start your fishing adventure! 800-862-8602 or www.sportsmanslodges.com
