Well I was out with a buddy fishing from shore on the MN river in Belle Plaine and Shakopee... we were out for big catfish and ended up screwing around and catching a couple small panfish and one decent-sized hybrid bluegill/green sunfish.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to find the big cats that I keep hearing about on the MN, I'd be delighted to hear them. Thanks.
Couple spots where I have had luck in the past, On the Mn.river, in Chaska down the trail behind the Court House, and at the bend right at hwy 41, In Carver across the R.R bridge and up stream to the first bend, and where the Mn and Miss river meet under FT. Snelling, you may get a few now but you fish them around the end of may/start of june, I always would use the largest bait I could find or catch.
I found a couple spots when we were out on Sunday that I want to get back to... one right under the 101 bridge in downtown Shakopee. The other is just northwest of the highway 25 bridge on the west side of Belle Plain. There's a ton of deadfall over there and it's in a place where the current slows.
