My wife took this of me after an early-mornin run down to the 57th St pier. I caught the cat in about 8' of water on the Gulp! I'm holding. That said, it's the only cat I've caught using artificials on the river since I started fishing in in May. It was fun though.

How did it taste?

Catfish out of cold water is really good, IMO catfish out of warm water starts to get a little funky.

Nice shirt by the way.

WebDude, for sure!

nofishfisherman, it was actually really tasty... but the Mississippi is always pretty cold. I posted a pic of the 3.5# channel I pulled out of there a couple weeks ago, it's half again as big as this one, but the water was WAY colder when I caught it. I'm looking forward to that little feast.

T-bone, I grew up in Faribault and am 35 years old... and never heard of anyone catching cats on the Cannon. Dear god, what fun we could have had as kids. Were you fishing the bottom? I just tossed that thing out on the bottom with 12" steel leader and 1.5 oz of lead rigged to slip. It fought like a monster, too. But now, pray tell, where are these mythical St. Olaf's Catfish? wink smiley

If you'd rather talk about it off the forum... jared at web-relevant dot see oh emm

Okay, I got it on the homepage and the pictures section. You now have your own personal photo album located here...

Send more pics and I will add them. You can use this link by just cutting and pasting. Send it to your friends or whatever... tell them you found a great fishing site to hang out at, eh?

This one I caught about 2 weeks ago, it's at least half-again as big as the first one... 3#8oz, on chicken liver, no less.
