So is anyone else getting in on some of the best shore fishing of the year and what do you have to report? Was out last night a got 13 eye's (all about 12" and had to go back) Did see two 17"s get cought. It has been hit and miss on the nights. Still picking up a few crappies at dusk also. Fishing fathead or shiner on jig under bobber most of the time. Last night they were in 3 feet of water or less (even seen a few frogs still heading into the lake).

Hell, if it's next weekend (aka payday) I'll even bring the bait.

As for fishing reports:
The catfish take on the Mississippi in the general vicinity of the 694 bridge has been good, but it seems to only be good if you're using chicken livers on circle hooks constructed for catfish. A friend's kid pulled in a 5# northern off the river the other day too. It's nice to have been catching again because I went 3 weeks skunked. The smallmouth bite was much better then the water level was lower, with higher water they seem to have spread out.
I haven't caught a thing fishing from the Camden pier, but last time I was down there all I had was Gulp! and PowerBait catfish nibbles and, even though the package says it's better than the real thing, well... it just ain't.
North end of Bush lake: nothin. Horribly dead, and too weedy for anyone's good.
Ryan lake: crappies, not bad, but small. everything else has slowed way down
Wirth lake: if the fishing off the pier is ever very good, it's worse now. other than a 2# largemouth I pulled out of the weeds next to the boat landing midsummer, I've never caught anything worth keeping there.
The Narrows over between east and west Minnetonka: and caught a few decent sunnies and a bunch of small bass... and one banded darter on a bit of night crawler. I'd never seen one before so finding out the species was kinda fun.
I think that's about all I've got right now.

Hey, shorefisher, I'm in Brooklyn Center, which isn't too far from you. Would you mind hooking up sometime? I'll cruise up to you, of course.
Let me know.

Roger that... Friday night I'm off to a lake whose name and location I promised my source I would not reveal to anyone. Alas. But Sunday morning I'll most likely be down at the river at 57th St NW and Lyndale.
Monday evening may work out OK for me... some of that depends on how patient my wife chooses to be with my "omg it's gonna be frozen out soon... must fish! MUST FISH!" syndrome.
