Hey folks, I know I haven't been too active on this forum all summer... now I feel like I've missed out on a great deal of fun interaction and a very valuable resource. I'm going to make it a point to be more active here. Considering that I fished nearly every day all summer (literally, nearly every day) it seems I should have had something to contribute. Suffice to say I've learned by lesson and will definitely keep more involved here.

Anyway, I had a really good summer... my species list this year is at 21 and counting, including a banded darter, a golden shiner, and a few big Mississippi Silver Minnows caught on an ultralight with a #14 fly hook tipped with half of a white Gulp! wax worm. A few weeks ago, though, the catch really dropped off in the waters I have around my place, which includes Bass and Eagle lake, SE to Wirth Lake, and north to the elevated fishing pier in the part off 57th street and Lyndale (the easternmost end of what is Bass Lake Road in Brooklyn Center).

Down on the River, I caught a couple flatheads and a couple channels, a couple small and one 3# smallmouth (I posted pics of the biggest of the flathead and the smallie)... but there's been little to nothing happening down there lately. Strikes me as odd, too, because the water's up substantially over what it was a few weeks ago.

Anyway, I'm hoping to find a couple other decent spots to fish either the MN or the Mississppi... I've heard so much about the 30# flathead and channel cats that are to be had right here in our area, I'm dying to hook into one. Thing is, other than the 57th St spot and the Camden Bridge fishing pier, I have _no_ clue where to go to target fish like that.

So now I'm fishing for hints or invites. wink smiley

I'd also like to finish the year with a couple walleye, since I have yet to catch one of those at all this year... but without a boat I don't really have any option but to find shore spots... and since the shore spots I have around home aren't working, I'm hoping that someone will take pity on a poor fishing fanatic like me and either a couple spots to check out or (I know this is too much to ask, but if you never ask you shall never receive) an invite to fish with someone in a boat for my buddy and I in trade for gas and food?

I don't blame anyone for not being keen on doing so with a stranger, so don't feel bad if your reaction is "who the hell are you?" Still, I'm trying to end the season at least on par with this summer and just can't seem to pull it off... why be too proud to ask for help, eh?

Anyway... do with it what you will, there's my regret, my promise and my request. smile smiley

Thanks!!

Thanks man... it's been a good year for me, fishing-wise, so it's time to give back, or at least participate. smile smiley

Damn, no takers? Even if we cover gas and food, hell, even bait?

Come on! It's the next best thing to getting paid to go fishing! wink smiley
