I am going up north October 17th-20th and will be on Kego Lake in Fifty Lakes. When do the lakes usually turn up there and will the fishing still be ok at this time?
Lakes will be turned over by then. Most fish will be deep, on a minnow bite. Have caught walleyes that time of year deep as 45-50' At night fish will move shallow and be catch-able on crank baits. Bring some warm clothes.
Reminds me of the year I went to Northern Ontario in early October. It snowed on me. One morning I was pushing my little boat off the trailer at the landing in Ear Falls, wading into the water with bare feet and wearing shorts, and this guy came cruising into the landing wearing a snowmobile suit and boots. He looked at me like I was crazy, which I probably was. Fishing was great, though.
