Anyone know any rivers this time of the year that has trouts that are still biting near twin cities? 30 min- 45 min drive would be nice... I'd like to try some fly fishing before school starts.... havent had the best luck this year... i'd appreciate if anyone can give me a river and the directions on how to get there... the time and bait that trout bites... thanks
I have had decent luck on the Rush river this year... due to all the rain in Wisconsin, but water even there is getting low and warm so fishing is going to be very slow. If you really want to give it a try I suggest going just before sunset, and keep your shadow behind you. They seem to bite much better at dusk than dawn for some reason. I'm fairly certain I am done fly fishing until later in the fall when it will be time to hit the Brule for some steelhead. Good luck!
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
