Hi there all, well its been almost a year since I have had anything to post on this site. I pop in to read see how you all are doing, but sadly I have been too busy to do any serious fishing. Just a couple of fly fishing runs out on the Rush and a quick trip to Clearwater lake when it was about 9,000 degrees out. Oddly enough, I caught a 22" eye in the shallows that day with my muskie rig. (I know Clearwater doesn't have muskies but I was hoping for a monster northern.)
Anyway, I'm headed up to Vermilion this weekend and I'll be staying out by the dam. Has anyone been out on that lake recently? How's the fishing, what's biting, what's not... Any premo spots people are willing to share? Best colors to use on the lake this time of year? I will happily take any and all information people have to give. Bringing the whole fam out there, so I doubt we will be fishing for anything inparticular. I for one am gunning for a Monster Muskie the size of small humpback whale.
Thanks in Advance and keep those lines tight!
Aric

Last I heard, the walleye bite has been pretty good, especially on the east side of the lake... or the windy side... take your pick. You are going to have to fish the basins, reefs and rockpiles to find them. Lindys and bottom bouncers with leeches been doing good. Fish 15 to 25 feet. Perch are starting to come back too... don't forget them.
Hope this helps...

I was on Vermillion on the 4th of this month and we fished by Potato Island. We fished in about 25 ft of water. We had really good success. They hit best on leeches but also hit nightcrawlers. We trolled with lindy rigs about a foot off the bottom. Caught lots of small ones but also got a few bigger ones. Hope that helps. Good luck.

wow, thanks for the help fellas, its much appreciated.
If anyone else has info to add, please do!
p.s. I assume by bottom bouncers you are including jigs, what color heads were working best for the eyes? Those buggers can be picky... and with my selection of jigs I could be in the boat all day before I finally find the right color. Maybe its time to trim the collection......nah!
