Hello, I'm new to the area and enjoy night fishing inmensely
talked to the DNR and they told me the only place to go at night pretty much is Minnetonka but I jhave no idea where to launch from for night fishing. Do all public landings close at 10 pm?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site, jvm1!

Unfortunately, most boat landings fall under the auspices of the county or city with the rest handled by the DNR. You might want to try Hennepin and Ramsey counties. All boat landings have their own hours and you need to call.

This might help...

Hennepin
Ramsey
Anoka
Carver
Dakota
Scott
Washington

Sorry... that's the best I can do. I do remember some posts in the past of people fishing at night on Bald Eagle...

I went to Bald eagle once and planned to fish at night but at 930 i saw all boats heading to the dock and i did the same after a bit.
i was the last one out and had to deal with an angry cop.

Hey jvm1,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboard!

I think we are going to have to find those landings by the users, eh? I fish around the Metro, but really have never tried anything at night... Mmmmm Can anybody help this guy?

Glad to be here guys, seems like a great forum.
I just moved to the twin cities so I don't know much about the lakes here. Any good lakes you want to share that are in the area? I've only gone to Bald Eagle so far and Lake Independance (way too busy)

I'll have to think about that one. I know have I been kicked out of almost every park in the Burnsville/Lakeville area while shore fishing after dark.

I am sure there are some places you can go but I'll have to think it over a little.

My nextdoor neighbor spends a lot of time catfishing at night on the St. Croix and Mississipi. I don't think there's anything illegal about it. He launches at Lilydale and Hudson.

Seems like the problem is with the park hours. There are access points on the river that aren't in parks, though, for shore fishing. I'm not sure how safe they are at night, though.

Careful... I currently owe $135 dollars to Hennepin county for fishing after sunset... Apparently the parks now own the rivers that they surround because I was in knee deep water and they still ticketed me for being in the park after close..
